You would think that you have visited a harmonious city and a harmonious state filled with tourists and souvenir shops, where the life of a tourist resort is lush, while in fact,  behind the curtain lies a one generation old past, where the truth and essence of today's Bosnia and Herzegovina, city of Mostar and  Herzegovina hides ...   


Only a few minutes of walk from the Old Bridge lies the most valuable museum of this city and Herzegovina: The Museum of War and Genocide Victims 1992-1995. Not only is it the most important museum in Mostar and Herzegovina, it is the most important timeless portrait that shows the real image of this country and city, it is the symbol of all symbols, a condition without it can be (sine quo non). 

The Old Bridge was targetly demolished on November 9, 1993. as it was a symbol of the common life of the people in the Balkans. Tourists nowadays cross the renovated bridge, but in order to find out what was behind the project of demolition of this bridge, they have to visit the embryo of everything that is related to today's Bosnia and Herzegovina: The Museum of War and Genocide Victims 1992 -1995.   

Today, Mostar is a partially renewed city, in itself it summarizes all the symbolism of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wars that happened on the Balkans. Behind the curtain of a city crowded with tourists, hides a wound two and a half decades deep, there hides a genocide, ethnic genocide, concentration camps, genocide of politics and a war as an engineering to destroy the people. In the Museum of War and Genocide Victims 1992-1995 you will see a true face of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Balkans. That's the face of a 26-year-old torn by war and evil.

You have to cross the threshold of this monumental museum that conceals the memory of the incredible suffering through which Bosnia and Herzegovina has been through not so long ago, and is still going through.
